One Year Ago Today…
by angryhippie

…I set out to change the world…wide web podcasting landscape. I decided that I would add one more angry voice to the mix, and one year later, I can’t believe that it took the way that it has. Or, more honestly, that people actually took to it. I’m not going to lie, I had never considered what I had to say to be all that revolutionary. I figured that after a couple of shows, the public would come to the realization that this angry hippie guy was as useful as, well, Bush in the Whitehouse, and I would be written off. But I guess since even Bush got a second term, I should too! I mean, I have fucked up on my show, but I have to have a better track record than that tool. Also I think admitting to my mistakes gives me some bonus points over ole Bushie.
It was a modest beginning, from a proposed 15 minute show (a mark I was never able to hit), to the two hour plus shows that have been added more recently, and I couldn’t be prouder of my little cyberspatial soapbox. The entire scope of the show has grown by leaps and bounds, and I couldn’t have done any of it, without all of you. The support and encouragement that I have received from the listeners has been nothing short of inspirational and heartwarming. Without you all, I would have given up on this effort many months ago, and for that, I cannot thank you enough. You all give me drive and purpose. You have kept me going as times were dark and I could not truly see the light on the other side. Your words have meant more to me than I can express, and I could never have imagined so many people speaking about me touching their lives. I only hope you all know, it is completely reciprocal.
So here’s to the next year! Hopefully one that’s jam packed with the angry hippie rantiness! (though it would be nice to not have so much to get angry about) I created a persona for the rant, and it took on a life all it’s own. The Angry Hippie has taken to the blogosphere, the podcast scene, web videos, and massive nationwide activism campaigns since it’s inception. The podcast was essentially the beginning of it all, and I cannot believe a year has come and gone since I started out on this journey. And I look for bigger and better things for the Angry Hippie in the second year as I have begun outlining a book that I will begin writing as soon as I finish my first novel (which should be wrapped by the month’s end…and possibly available for download from the site). The book If You′re Not Angry, You′re Not Paying Attention : An Angry Hippie’s Look at the World is a project I am greatly looking forward to, and I will be sure to keep everyone posted about it’s progress (well, those who are interested, anyway).
Thanks for a life-altering first year, y’all! Much love!
Peace, Love, and all that hippie shit!

Hey Rob, Thanks for doing the podcast. I love it, my mother is hooked on it, and I recommend it to everyone I know. It gives me hope to hear someone being so angry and articulate all at once. Here’s to many more years of ranting!
Congratulations on one year of ranty goodness! The world wouldn’t be the same without you… I wouldn’t be the same either. A book… YAY! That is fantastic! I want an autographed copy!!
jodis last blog post..Dear Mark A. Gregg,
I found your podcast a year after it has started, and I love it. I love it so much and I’m SO glad I got here in time for the million mad march. I’m vegan too, and I love looking up to the many rolemodels I have on the internet such as yourself or the vegan freaks. A book is something I can’t wait for. I’ve listened to almost all of your episodes on my long bikeride to and from work almost every day and it makes my ride even more fun than it already is. Listening to your or the vegan freak podcast is my reward for riding to work in nasty weather.
I had a question when it comes to Million mad. May I march in my city? It’s a small city, in canada no less. But the problems with canadian and american politics are often times laterally bonded.
I love your podcast, never let bad times stifle your voice.
Sisi (like see see : D )
Congrats to you, brother! In my vision, it will go on until…” you’ve landed on the guerrilla signal being podcast live from the nursing home….” for as long as there are humans, there will be dumbasses to fuck it up for the rest of us. and the only one who can rant more than an angry hippie, is an old angry hippie.
you write books too? holy shit, man! youre busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest! compared to you, im lazier than carpet.
thanks for all you do and inspiring me to give a shit in a seemingly hopeless world.
