DJ Mydnyt’s Fourth Album Released (With Single & B-sides)
As many of you may or may not know, I have an ongoing side project under the moniker DJ Mydnyt. And I am proud to announce the completion and virtual release of the new album, Original DJ. This fourth installment is complete with new tracks never before heard, and handfuls of tracks that have been previewed around the web and in the podcast.
The funnest part of compiling and creating this album tied between re-imagining two of my favorite poems (Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven and Robert Frost’s The Road Not Taken) to music, and the compiling of the clips and monologues that gave life to tracks like Hippies!, I Got Monkeys In Me!, Double Standard, and more. Overall, this was a fun project, and I think it plays that way.
As with all of the DJ Mydnyt releases, the tracks on this album are creative commons releases and are available to be heard via its Behance Portfolio entry. Hopefully, the planned site redesign will be ready soon and all of the albums will be available for download. In the meantime, if you would like to get free .mp3 versions of the tracks you can contact me through the blog here.
Unlike the other albums, Original DJ has a single that comes complete with two b-side tracks that are not available on the album itself. The single is The Raven, the re-imagining of Poe’s classic poem.
The B-sides on the single include a track called Double Standard, compiled using Charlotte Gainsbourg’s iconic monologue from the film The Cement Garden. One of my favorite monologues of all time. The other track, Crouching Trancer, Hidden DJ, is nothing but pure musical excitement.
If you get a chance to check out the tracks, I would love to get your feedback, either here or at Behance. And if you are a fan, rest assured that there is more from DJ Mydnyt on the horizon.
